A side trip is not always the right path...or was it.

On the spur of the moment we decided to take some back roads in Kentucky. We got a little lost and saw a few small towns. So on our way to where we should have been, the finger of fate sucked us in. We drove over three bridges not realizing or thinking about weight. Usually we watch for height limits. After the bridges we were stopped by a policeman who told us our vehicle was over weight for the bridges. He said he had to ticket us but if the scale truck was available it would be a lot more. Then they would have to charge us so much for every pound we were over. So instead he gave us a ticket on disregarding a sign (it was the size of truck and it's limits). Quite a hefty fee anyway at $243. Good thing that Dusty slept through the situation or it could have gotten ugly.

Yesterday Joe was looking online to determine if this was a legal stop. You know you read about people dressed as policemen stopping vehicles. Joe did find that while this officer was ticketing us, a policeman was shot answering a domestic call in the same area. If he had been free that could have been him. Maybe it was not his time but it sure is something that makes you think. Maybe we were lost for a reason.
