Louise Hays Park, Kerrville

This was a lovely park but it got to 100 degrees today! Too hot to walk around too long. It didn’t stop others from wading and floating in the water but we aren’t swimmers. So we ate lunch in the camper and just went out to take pictures. It was so hot that when a small peanut size dog barked at Dusty, Dusty ignored the dog. It had to be a first. There were duckys that enjoyed the water or they didn’t want me to get too close for they were on land and went into the water when I approached. When I left they came out of the water. Who told them I couldn’t swim.

Ant Invasion!

Bill put the soaker house along the back of the house and we were all sitting in the living room. Dusty went to the door like she had to go out and she saw me looking. She jumped at the door. She'd never done that before and I thought she really had to go bad so I jumped up as fast as I could. I didn't notice that she had backed away from the door instead of attempting to run through the door. I swung the door open and the storm door was swarming with fire ants! All over the inside door also. Bill had flooded their hive and they were moving their eggs. Joe took the front line and I watched his back for escapees. It took us a couple of hours to clean them up. I'm just glad it was not dark out. Thanks to Dusty we got them before they transfered eggs inside the house.
