Tape the tick

We lived in New England for three years and found ticks like to live there too. New England has a high percentage of Lyme disease also, which ticks carry. Joe was bit twice by ticks clearing out woods and did get Lyme. If treated early it can be cured but some doctors don’t recognize it unless you know a tick did bite. When living in New England Dusty got a Lyme shot to prevent the disease. I always checked her when coming indoors and one summer I found nine ticks on her! This is why when camping I watch for ticks. A good way to catch a tick is to take a piece of scotch tape and stick the tick to it and fold the ends over to trap it within the tape. One campsite in Florida had a picnic table with a lot of vegetation around it. I was sitting at it with Dusty and then went in the camper. I found a tick crawling across the back of my hand. Boy do I hate ticks. Luckily there is much less Lyme disease in Florida than New England. I would not sit at the picnic table anymore. I read that ticks like vegetation and shade and usually stay within three feet. I do take a roll of scotch tape with me camping because you never know what you’ll find camping, although don’t use tape on large insects or bees/wasps.
