Here is the one room school house my Dad went to school at. It was built in 1903. Too bad someone didn’t maintain it. It was called Hall School. It is in Jefferson Township of Kosciusko County, Indiana. He told us he, and Uncle Charlie and Uncle Paul and Uncle Clarence all walked to school from the farm. No buses back then. The Nooks and Kindles remind me of the slates they used at school. They are about the same size. We just need batteries instead of chalk. Guess which four boys are our relatives.
Neat picture Marcia. I went to a 2 room schoolhouse for grade 1. Mom taught all 8 grades in a one room school that had a woodstove, outhouse and the drinking water came in by buckets. jb
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this! Was this in the Argos area? I don't remember anyone talking about it ... such a cool building. Like you said, too bad no one restored it!
ReplyDeleteDuh!! Of course it wasn't Argos. I had to re-read your post. Hee hee ... oh well. :)
