Christmas 2014

Christmas is almost here. I haven't even mailed cards. So I'll just say it here. "Merry Christmas!"

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and these turkeys want to make their exits before someone figures out we are having them as the main course. It's ok guys, we are having ham. Oh yeah, they don't know they are ceramic.

Boots

When you move North you need boots. They aren't just for looks. I had to look for a pair that had zipper up the side or back which makes it easier for a Parky person to get the foot in. A sole that has boot tread for Parky slippery days. And furry stuff on the inside. But fake fur.

I have gloves and a scarf and winter coat.

So I'm ready for the next snow storm.

Could it be the Tardis?

If this is the Tardis than someone got the control fixed to change the image. Doctor must have upgraded. This is a Police Box.  It always looks smaller on the outside. 

Are you about to say, "Doctor Who?"

Warning, warning.

We were warned about the buffalo roaming around not to antagonize them. They look tame here but don't let it fool you, they can get mean fast. We were leaving the museum/gift shop when we saw this buffalo heading straight for us. All the people around us started backing up and of course we did too. He ignored us and walked over to a pool of water. He was thirsty so we took that opportunity to get to the car in the parking lot. Friends with us had not seen the lake for a year and they said the lake had decreased. I'm not talking about the small pool of water this big guy is drinking from. This is an island off the Great Salt Lake in Utah. I didn't say it earlier but they are having a drought.  Even though Indiana doesn't have a drought problem, we should all respect the fact that it could be us someday. We all have to share this world.

BTW, we were in Utah in August. Just didn't remember to do a post then.

Fall is here.

Here we are getting ready for Halloween. The pumpkin doesn't show very well. Click on the picture to make it bigger. This is our new front door. Joe just put it in. The glass looks like Craftsman style. I think we like it. The tall flowers are Blue Fortune Hyssop. The tag said it would attract butterflies and hummingbirds but so far all I've seen is bumblebees. The low plant in front is Snowcap Shasta Daisy. They are supposed to attract butterflies but they bloomed once and now just lay there. The tag said they have bloom season as Summer and Fall. It's fall so where are my blooms? Maybe that is why the pumpkin is laughing.

Some roads aren't busy

How would you like to drive down this road. No traffic but it would put me to sleep. Can you guess what the black areas are? If this were Texas they would be burn areas. Texas has a drought and you have to be careful not to get a fire started. But in this case we were in South Dakota. The black areas are shade made from the clouds. Highest elevation is 7,242 feet. Where do all the squirrels and birds nest?

A Puzzle

Here is a puzzle. Every time we pop popcorn in the microwave one small unpopped kernel appears  when I open the dishwasher and the kernel rolls out from somewhere onto the floor by the base of the dishwasher. You won't get an answer from me. I haven't a clue.

Climbing

Climb every mountain... which is impossible in Indiana since we don't have any mountains. So I guess Joe  found something he could climb. Actually he is washing the bugs off the RV. Just another sign summer is here. You can't tell by the temperatures. It colder than normal.

Wedding Bells

The red spots on the picture are really rose petals. We were throwing them instead of rice. The ceremony is over and now comes the fun at the reception. I did not sing at the Karaoke part of the party. Everybody would have run out of the building with their ears covered.

New fridge.

We got a new fridge. It is much bigger than our old one. This one has a temperature readout so we can tell what temperature it is. I will say the freezer keeps it at zero which makes the ice cream pretty hard. I wasn't sure about the double door but if you leave the door open too long it dings to remind you. The only thing is it has a shiny door so you can see yourself. Not crazy about that except it makes you look thinner. This is the first time I've had a freezer on the bottom.  It is easier on your back because you aren't stooping as much.   We aren't getting any younger so I guess it's OK. Most people use the fridge more than the freezer. But they don't know how much  ice cream we consume. Maybe we should have stuck with the upper freezer.

Tomorrow is Easter

Tomorrow is Easter and Joe decided today he would find what was wrong with the faucet. It had no pressure so water came out in a thin stream. Will he have it fixed before Easter?

Yes! Joe  put in a new faucet so we will have water pressure for Easter. I did have to give up a sprayer. But who really uses it?  Ok, ok. lots of people use a sprayer. I admit I was using the last one but most of them spray out over everywhere.

Joe just admitted he was waiting in the other room for me to finish this blog. He wants to make sure I put in the 'after' picture. Yes, he finished it.

Just in time for Easter!

Someone is active again.

What is not like the others? I'll give you a hint. Someone put it in the wrong place. So we had to eat it right away.

Mice

The mice tried to eat this hot pad but it must not be as tasty as food. I guess my cooking must be better than plastic.  If you can't see the bite marks you might want to enlarge this photo. Just tap on photo  to enlarge.  This  might be why I've been finding white mice poo. Either that or they are spitting out plastic hot pad pieces.

Ah!

                                   It's about time they gave me a break and let me put my feet up.

Confusion.

Here are the choices on my sink. Today I wanted lotion but instead pumped soap. Just a small amount. The lotion and soap look a lot alike if they are out of the bottle. This is why I should pay attention. Although this is not a big deal because these three things are all for use on hands. I do keep the toothpaste in the cabinet. 

Wasn't this interesting? I was going to tell you about the stink bugs but I didn't have one to photograph. Everyone tells me they stink but I can't smell them. I didn't even know they existed till last year.

Banana

Someone asked how would you hang one banana from a banana stand. I think it is a matter of balance.

Did someone ask for snow?

And it isn't over yet. Monday through Wednesday will have minus temperature.. And this snow is still falling. Someone just drove a snowmobile across the lawns. Well, if there were not a snow cover it would be a lawn.
